Yoga Classes on the Upper West Side

Move with purpose, breathe with intention, and build strength from the inside out.

Every yoga class at Momentum Fitness on the Upper West Side is capped at 8 to 10 people. That means your instructor sees your alignment, offers real cues, and adjusts in real time. It’s closer to semi-private instruction than the 30-person classes most studios run.

Seven classes, all beginner-friendly with modifications at every level, span the full range of what yoga can do: strength-forward vinyasa, breath-based flow, recovery sessions built for people who lift and run, high-intensity yoga intervals, deep yin holds, and hybrid formats that blend yoga with Pilates and barre.

Classes are led by certified instructors with credentials in yoga, personal training, and corrective exercise, not just one discipline. Mats and props are provided at our group fitness studio on the Upper West Side, fully equipped for yoga classes. No membership required. Buy a class pack and use it for any class on the schedule.

Yoga Classes at Momentum

🌊 Core Sculpt Flow (CSF)
Instructor: Courtney Bauer

Breath-guided blend of Pilates-inspired core work, strength-based sculpting, and yoga flow for alignment and body awareness.

🌿 Yoga / Pilates / Barre Blend
Instructor: Lauren Engleman

Balanced mix of yoga alignment, Pilates core strength, and barre sculpt with close attention to form. All levels welcome.

🌿 Breathe & Flow
Instructor: Kiara Kolaczyk

All-levels flow blending steady movement with breath to build heat, improve mobility, and clear your head. Accessible sequences with options at every step — no pressure, no perfection.

🧘 Strong Support (Yoga for Active Bodies)
Instructor: Kiara Kolaczyk

The missing link between your workouts and recovery. Purposeful movement, functional stretching, and breathwork to improve mobility, balance, and body awareness — built for lifters, runners, and anyone who wants to move better.

🌊 Vinyasa Flow
Instructor: James Biasucci

Strength-forward vinyasa built around alignment, breathwork, and intelligent sequencing. Athletic shapes, core and shoulder stability, hip mobility — with movement patterns drawn from functional training and martial arts concepts. All levels welcome.

🌙 Reset & Restore (Yin Yoga)
Instructor: Kiara Kolaczyk

Long, grounding holds close to the floor to release tension, restore mobility, and reset your nervous system. Built for gym-goers, desk workers, and anyone who needs to slow down. No yoga experience needed.

🌊 HIIT Yoga
Instructor: Kiara Kolaczyk

High-intensity intervals rooted in mindful movement and breath. Dynamic sequences that build strength, challenge endurance, and leave you sweating. For active movers who want both the burn and the grounding.

Which Yoga Class Is Right for You?

If you've never done yoga before: Breathe & Flow. Kiara teaches at a pace that lets you learn without feeling lost, and every pose comes with modifications.

If you train hard and need recovery: Strong Support. It's designed for people who already have a training practice and need structured recovery, not a random stretch session.

If you want a challenge: Vinyasa Flow with JJ or HIIT Yoga with Kiara. Both push strength and endurance while maintaining the breath-movement connection that makes it yoga, not just exercise.

If you want deep relaxation: Reset & Restore (Yin Yoga). Long holds, props, and a pace that lets your body actually release.

If you like variety: Core Sculpt Flow or Yoga / Pilates / Barre Blend. Both pull from multiple disciplines so each session covers more ground.

Yoga Class FAQ

How much do yoga classes cost at Momentum?

No membership required. Group fitness classes are purchased as class packs or monthly subscriptions. Class packs don't expire and are shareable with friends or family. Monthly subscriptions are available if you're taking 10 or more classes per month. Visit the class schedule to see current pricing and package options.

What types of yoga classes does Momentum offer?

Seven yoga classes: Vinyasa Flow (strength-forward, alignment-based), Breathe & Flow (accessible, all levels), Strong Support (recovery yoga for active bodies), Reset & Restore (yin yoga with long holds), HIIT Yoga (high-intensity intervals with yoga structure), Core Sculpt Flow (Pilates-yoga fusion), and Yoga / Pilates / Barre Blend. Classes range from deep relaxation to high-energy, so there's a format for every goal.

Do I need yoga experience to attend a class?

No. Breathe & Flow is specifically designed for all levels, including complete beginners. Every instructor offers modifications and progressions so you can work at your own pace. If you want individual attention before joining a group class, one-on-one instruction is also available.

What should I bring to class?

Just yourself. Mats and props (blocks, straps, bolsters) are provided. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Water is available at the gym.

How big are the yoga classes?

Every class is capped at 8 to 10 people. That's small enough for your instructor to watch your form and offer individual cues, which is something studios with 20 or 30 mats can't do.

What's the difference between Vinyasa Flow and Strong Support?

Vinyasa Flow is a strength-forward practice with continuous movement, complex sequences, and a focus on building coordination and endurance through breath-linked poses. Strong Support is slower, recovery-focused, and designed specifically for people who lift or run. Think of Vinyasa as the workout and Strong Support as the reset.

Can I do yoga if I'm not flexible?

Yes. Flexibility is a result of consistent yoga practice, not a prerequisite for starting. Instructors use props and modifications to meet you where you are. If you're especially stiff or working around an injury, starting with one-on-one instruction can help you build a foundation before joining a group class.

How often should I attend yoga class?

Two to three classes per week builds noticeable progress in flexibility, strength, and body awareness. One class per week is enough to maintain a foundation, especially if you're also doing personal training or other group fitness classes. Your instructor can help you figure out which classes complement each other.

Are yoga classes included with personal training?

Group fitness sessions and personal training sessions are separate packages, but both are available at the same facility. Many clients combine personal training with group yoga classes to get the best of both: structured strength work from their trainer and guided movement practice from a yoga class. Class packs work across any group fitness class on the schedule, not just yoga.
